Assam Governor meets officials of Women and Child Development
Asks officials to assiduously implement schemes for the benefits of women and child
Guwahati: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria chaired a meeting with the senior officials from the Women and Child Development of the Directorate of Social Welfare at Raj Bhavan today. The officials provided a detailed briefing on the initiatives undertaken to enhance the welfare of women and children in the state. Moreover, they highlighted the steps that the directorate has taken for effective implementation of various schemes dedicated to the betterment of women and children. The Governor inquired about the status of implementation of all the schemes
being implemented by the department in the state. He asked the officials about the feedback they have received from the beneficiaries and the methods they employ to address the grievances of the beneficiaries. He advised them to prepare comparative data of all the districts of the state to determine which district is leading in improving the lives of women and children, and which district requires attention. The Governor acknowledged the commendable efforts put into the model Anganwadi centers in the states. Regarding the implementation of the POCSO Act,
the Governor asked the department to act instantly to dispose of any case related to the act. The Governor asked officials to pay attention to this matter, emphasizing that innocent lives should not be unjustly affected by unscrupulous elements. Principal Secretary WCD Dept.
